Daddario / Rondoudou - Protection Paladin - X-Realm
Character name: Rondoudou (Daddario on transfer)
Character class: Paladin
Character spec: Protection (53/18)
Which glyphs are you using, and why:
Primary majors -
Divine Plea - 3% damage reduction on a spell with 100% uptime on most encounters. Not having this should be a crime.
Seal of Vengeance - 10 free expertise skill. Significant bonus to TPS when using what is already the best single target TPS seal. No argument.
The third slot has several options depending on situation, and potentially spec.
I generally use Righteous Defense for everyday use because I'm totally neurotic about missing a taunt, however other glyphs have their uses.
Glyph of Salvation - 20% damage reduction when I cast Hand of Salvation on myself is a double-edged sword, but used right essentially gives me another defensive cooldown. Damage suffered after tank swaps, such as Impale on Gormok, basically allow this to be used with impunity thanks to the loss of threat being a complete non-issue thanks to taunts.
Glyph of Holy Wrath (usually in conjunction with replacing Glyph of SoV with Hammer of the Righteous) - The ultimate trash glyph setup, especially for large parts of Icecrown. A small adjustment in spec (swapping Divine Sacrifice and Guardian for 3/5 Reckoning) allows for a significantly stronger threat output on large AoE pulls. In many cases i'll probably sit with this build as my off-spec.
Character tradeskill professions and levels: 450 Enchanting / Jewelcrafting.
Why do you feel those professions best suit your character and/or playstyle:
Stamina. Stamina. Stamina. Slightly disappointed I don't have engineering for the utility of rocket boots, but I can't see myself replacing either of them. Were largely originally levelled for my guild to take advantage of when we were just getting started but their combined stamina benefit is hard to beat.
What is your secondary spec and why did you choose it:
Retribution, though I can play Holy too. Unfortunately I've disposed of the gear for Holy due to lack of space and being ridiculously out of date. I've had a bit of a love/hate relationship with Ret since Wrath was released largely due to the swings and roundabouts that the spec has gone through over the course of major patches. Where the spec is at now is a lot of fun; I really enjoy playing it.
Have you ever rerolled and if so why did you reroll:
Several times over the years (original account activation was April 2005). Played a priest pretty casually in Vanilla before switching to mage on Horde and doing much of the same. Primarily played a rogue in TBC before switching to the paladin in 2.4, all the way to now. Played a resto druid for a while when Serious Business effectively disbanded, but couldn't ignore the call of my paladin. The large amount of rerolls is largely because I like to understand other classes. Reading about them is fine, but actually experiencing them gives you a much better judge of their strengths and weaknesses. Much like boss encounters, really.
Provide a link to a recent WWS log: Don't have one unfortunately, all my old logs expired a long time ago.
Do you have any offspec experience and do you have gear for it:
Mentioned already but I can play Ret and Holy. Ret gear is slightly worse than my prot gear (which isn't great either...). Don't have a set of holy gear to hand these days, but I can fix that with some grinding if required.
Previous guild(s):
Only one of any sort of relevance is Serious Business. We were a guild of friends from the real world who decided we'd try raiding as a team instead of with other people. It had its up and downs and enjoyed minor success, but in the end we just didn't have the numbers to keep it going indefinitely.
Reason(s) for leaving previous guild(s):
I'm still there but it's just a parking spot for those of us not currently raiding, or in some cases the alts of those who are.
What was your attendance in your previous guild:
Being one of only two tanks I was pretty much required to turn up if we were going to raid. As such, pretty much 100% except for sickness or not being at home.
Reasons why you would like to join:
Pretty standard set of reasons -
You're incredibly good at what you do. I have a lot of respect for that and it makes raiding far more satisfying if you actually win.
Your mentality is exactly what I'm looking for. Head down for the raids and get stuff done. Not a fan of constant pauses and playing to your best is constantly encouraged.
I have friends here. Not to mention that they enjoying being here, which as far as community is concerned is all I need to know. /wave to Psykal, Helmsley and Hanatarou.

What sort of connection are you on and how stable is it:
50 MB cable. Works except for the times that it doesn't, which are rare.
Ventrilo:
I use vent regularly and have a mic, which I may need to replace. It doesn't seem to make much noise under certain codecs.
Highest boss killed:
I've successfully seen up to Rotface in 25 healing on my druid. Raiding has been spotty since the end of 3.1.
Your primary play times, will you make all our raids:
Uni means i generally can't play before 7pm CET during the week, which is of no issue to you as far as I can tell. Uni timetable is all over the place so I will be on earlier on many days. I have no outside commitments preventing me from playing after uni on any day or at the weekend. Note - I will have to cut back around the exam period in late May for a week or two, but I'm sure you can understand that.
Do you have any upcoming events (like a holiday) that would interrupt your trial period:
None.
Were all of the above characters levelled by you from the start:
Of course.
Optional Real life info:
Living in Edinburgh, Scotland studying Computer Security and Forensics. Avid musician (I play electric bass) and was actually studying it as a degree before I decided I didn't want to be a music teacher. An avid gamer, I actually vaguely remember TLW from DAoC (I was in Lionhearts/Phoenix Legion pre-ToA and a short stint with The Rigante in WoW and DAoC some time around Catacombs)
Edit : Tatum kindly PM'd me pointing out that I missed a question. Proofread this post and managed to just completely miss the fact I didn't answer it.
What sets you aside from other applicants:
I'd love to be able to just come out and say I was totally infallible or something, but it wouldn't be true. Instead, all I'll say is that this character's entire raiding life (and the vast majority of my raiding experience) has been as a tank. As such, it's easy for me to look upon its development as a cog in a greater machine. There's no sense of competition like there can be at times amongst DPS or healers beyond something as stupid as "hurr I've got better tanking stats than you". The sense of competition, for me at least, comes from the successes of the raid as a whole in comparison to other peoples'. That's where I get my kicks from in this game at least - who cares about a slightly purpler purple? Kick some ass and feel rightly smug about it for a while in my opinion.

Reason: Welp. Thanks Tatum!

Thanks for your application. We'll get back to you about it!

Brief update - Finally got the badges together to replace my belt. Significant upgrade to one of my weakest slots and also allowed me to regem my chest a little thanks to a more comfortable red socket. Also calling in every favour I can to see about getting the materials together for the Boots of Kingly Upheaval or, if I can really push it, the Pillars of Might. If I can stretch my money/favours that far I'm looking at another ~2%+ avoidance and 1k or so hp.
I'll be honest with you though - if gear happens to be the serious sticking point (and I imagine it is), beyond getting these boots/legs done don't expect any additional significant upgrades to appear any time soon. Will report back on any notable successes though.
Frustrates me far more than it will ever frustrate you, believe me.

Reason: Additional stuff

Hello! Normally we are not shy to gear up people that we know to be good players. However, with the ICC hardmodes just around the corner, we think that currently gearing someone up is not a good idea.
So on that basis I'm afraid we're not going to offer you a trial.
